You need one rebirth to open the rebirth door in Oil Tycoon!; rebirths reset your plot but unlock the CEO-side buildings.
Rebirth resets your plot in exchange for permanent progression. It is the gate in front of the late game: the CEO-side buildings, the extra door and the higher-tier routes all sit behind it.
What rebirth does
- Resets your base purchases — droppers, conveyors and buildings go back to zero.
- Counts toward the one-rebirth door: a marked door on the map reads "Need one rebirth to enter", and it opens on your first rebirth.
- Lets you rebuild with knowledge — the second run is much faster than the first.
The rebirth door
The door is visible before you can open it, and it tells you the requirement on its face. In a verified playthrough, players were seen with one rebirth on the board while most of the server had none — rebirth is a deliberate choice, not something you fall into.
Rebirth checklist before you reset
- Line is fully automated — well, drill and rig workers all hired.
- Upgrader chain bought out ($23 → $33 conversion running).
- At least four of six secrets collected (secrets are not reset by rebirth).
- Endings not yet seen — rebirth does not lock you out, but a fresh plot makes the True Ending route easier to stage.
- Screenshot your layout if you liked it; nothing carries over except the rebirth count.
What the CEO building is for

One checklist, because the reset is real: badges are safe, story progress is safe, secrets are safe — the plot is not. So before rebirthing, sell off stored product, leave the balance as high as it goes, and make sure the route you would rebuild is one you actually understand.
