Oil Tycoon! product values

Product values in Oil Tycoon! rise at every processing stage. This is the verified price table from the live game as of 27 September 2026.

Price table

ProductValueAdded by
Crude oil$15Straight from the ground
Gas canister$23First processing step (pump → oil balls → canister)
Fuel$33Upgrader ($250 purchase)

The jump from $23 to $33 is a +43% increase per unit from a single purchase — the best payback ratio anywhere in the game.

What the steps do

  1. Barrel holds crude after collection.
  2. Pump converts barrel contents into oil balls.
  3. Gas canister transfer makes the first sellable product at $23.
  4. Upgrader processes it into fuel at $33.
  5. Sell point pays automatically at the end of the line.

The math at scale

Line rateCrude only ($15)Full chain ($33)
1 unit/sec$15/sec$33/sec
~100 units/min (early line)~$25/sec~$55/sec
Fully bought-out line—$5,000/sec (verified run)

The $5,000/sec figure came from a playthrough with the upgrader chain and volume fully online — it is late-game, not something the first hour reaches.

  • Mug (container): $100 from Miguel — capacity, not income.
  • Clear obstacle: $25 — opens blocked path pieces.
  • Oil extractor: $50,000 — the mid-game income building.

The value ladder

Every unit in Oil Tycoon! is worth more the further it travels. The ladder below is the whole economics of the game in one table — buy nothing until you know which rung your line currently reaches.

RungProductApprox. valueWhat it needs
1Collected oil~$15Nothing — the pit does it
2Gas canister~$23The line running through the factory
3Fuel~$33The upgrader doing its job on every unit

The jump from rung 1 to rung 3 is roughly double your income per unit without collecting a single extra drop. That is why the upgrader outranks everything else at its price: it moves every unit up a rung, forever.

Reading your own numbers

Two checks tell you which rung you are on without opening a menu:

  1. Watch one unit end to end. If it leaves the pit, passes the upgrader and sells without stalling, you are on rung 3 — flat income then means volume, not value.
  2. Compare a manual sale to an automated second. If the line is selling fuel at $33 a unit and money still crawls, the constraint is how many units move, which is a throughput problem on the factory guide page.

What moves the ladder, and what does not

  • The upgrader moves you up a rung. Nothing else on the core line does.
  • More droppers give you more units on the same rung. Essential early, worthless if rung 1 is all you sell.
  • Workers change nothing about value — they change how many seconds an hour the line runs. See workers.
  • Cosmetics and monuments change nothing at all. The upgrades page marks what is verified to have no effect.

When selling raw is correct

In the first ten minutes, before the upgrader exists, raw oil is your only income and that is fine — the beginner guide budgets for it. The moment the upgrader is affordable, switch: every minute spent on rung 1 after that is a minute of half income.

FAQ

What are oil product values in Oil Tycoon!?

Values step up as products move down the line: raw oil is the base, canisters sell around $23, and fuel sells around $33. Processing is where the margin comes from.

Which product should I sell?

Sell the most processed product your line can sustain. Selling raw oil works in the first minutes, but every stage of processing you complete adds value before the sale.
